Food is your best medicine. The foundation of your nutrition is the food that you are eating on a daily basis. So, you are what you eat and your diet has a direct impact on your health. Unfortunately, the Standard American Diet has become SAD. Fast food, supersizing, frankin-fats, high fructose corn syrup, and soda are wreaking havoc on our health and the health of our children. For the first time in history, there are more obese than under-weight people in the world. We have become a nation which is over-fed and under-nourished.

The real tragedy is that for the first time in history the younger generation has a shorter life expectancy. Once again, we need to assume responsibility for the foods that we and our children are consuming. We have to become educated consumers and stop blindly purchasing foods because they are advertised on TV or because they are “quick and easy.” We need to demand healthy food choices in the school systems and remove the soda machines and candy machines as source of revenue for the schools.

The price that we will pay for a generation of unhealthy children will be enormous.
